IRISH musician Sinead O’Connor has paid tribute to her son after he was found dead at the age of 17.

Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor was reported missing on Thursday, with the Gardai launching an appeal for information on his whereabouts.

He had gone missing from Newbridge, County Kildare, before being seen last on Friday morning in the Tallaght area of south Dublin. Officers said they had concerns for the teenager’s welfare.

On Saturday, O’Connor confirmed on social media that her son had been found dead.

She tweeted: “My beautiful son, Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God. May he rest in peace and may no one follow his example. My baby. I love you so much. Please be at peace.”

A spokesperson for the Gardai said: “Following the recovery of a body in the Bray area of Wicklow on Friday 7 January 2022, a missing person appeal in respect of Shane O’Connor, 17 years, has been stood down.”
