FANS have sent their best wishes to Scots comic Janey Godley as she recovers following a life-saving operation.

Godley’s daughter, Ashley Storrie, confirmed this afternoon that her mother was out of surgery and that it went “relatively well”.

The comic announced in November that she would have to postpone her stand-up tour after she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

The operation to tackle the cancer was delayed once before after the comedian and author tested positive for Covid-19 in December.

Today, Godley underwent a hysterectomy to have the tumour, which she has named "Bunty", removed.

A statement posted to Twitter read: “It’s Ashley Storrie here. Mum is out of surgery and is in recovery.

“Her time in the operating theatre went relatively well, and a full hysterectomy was achieved. Bunty has left the building.

“Thank you so much for all your kind words, positive thoughts, and prayers.”

Supporters, including stars and politicians, took to social media to express their well wishes.

One person said: “This is the best news! Love and hugs, Ashley! We’re all pulling for your mum to make a quick and full recovery.”

A second added: “Thanks for the update, Ashley. That’s very welcome news. Very best wishes for her full recovery. Lots of love to you both.”

A third wrote: “Excellent news! So pleased it went well. I wish your mum a speedy recovery and can’t wait to see her on tour again doing what she does best.”

Emma Kennedy, actress and author, said: “Good to hear and thanks for update. Been thinking about her all morning. Hope you’re ok too. I know what it’s like waiting for a parent to come out of surgery. Lots of love to you too.”

Rachel Hynes, Welsh opera singer, added: “Thanks Ashley. This is great news! Onwards and upwards for a good, and speedy recovery. Love to your mum and to you.”

Glasgow SNP councillor Mhairi Hunter, wrote: “Great news. All the best to Janey and you and your dad.”

The Scots comic has previously urged others who may be suffering symptoms to get them checked out.
