ANOTHER 4002 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the past 24 hours, according to the latest daily figures.

The new cases had a positivity rate of 10.2%.

There were 38 new cases of the Omicron variant recorded, bringing the total in Scotland to 159.

Public Health Scotland noted that, while they are improving, there continues to be an impact on turnaround times between specimens being taken and results being reported.

No new deaths have been recorded in the data, meaning the total toll under the daily measure - of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days - remains at 9719.

Some 541 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed Covid-19. 

Of these people, 37 were in intensive care.

A total of 4,362,468 people have received their first dose of a Covid vaccination, 3,973,761 have received their second dose, and 2,116, 228 have received a third dose or booster.
