HAVE you ever wanted to work behind the scenes on a hit TV-series?

Well good new, as Scottish-based TV show Outlander is offering 32 people the chance to work on their production set.

The Outlander Trainee Scheme has opened up its annual recruitment programme for its seventh season, and is looking for creatives and technicians to begin a career in the film and television industry.

Applications opened on November 16 for trainee roles which begin in January 2022.

The roles available for application are in various departments such as painting, rigging, plastering, carpentry, costume, production, and locations.

As part of the scheme, new trainees can earn salaries between £433 and £546 per week plus holiday entitlement.

What qualifications do I need?

Besides living in Scotland, the Outlander Training Programme encourages applications from across all sections of the community.

No formal qualifications are required, however applicants must:

  • Normally resident in Scotland (the production base is Cumbernauld)
  • Be eligible to work in the UK
  • Be over 18 years old
  • Have a basic understanding of the film and television industry, preferably with relevant work experience
  • Preferably have at least one credit from a professional TV or Film production
  • Have no more than 12 months paid experience within the department they are applying to
  • Preferably have a full clean driving licence

The deadline for all the traineeships (except Production and Locations) is 9am, Monday December 13, 2021.

The deadline for production and location traineeships is 9am, Monday January 3, 2022.

When would I start?

The traineeship will commence in January 2022 and potentially run until August 2022 if it is similar to other years.
