STEVE Clarke’s Scotland side have given the nation plenty of amazing nights over the past year, but perhaps none were more joyous than Monday’s.

The team put in their finest display in years to comprehensively defeat a Denmark squad who haven’t dropped a point, conceding only one goal, in their other nine World Cup qualifiers.

Che Adams and John Souttar were the heroes in a rip-roaring 2-0 win at a packed Hampden Park.

Fans and players alike took to social media to share their highlights from a special night.

Before the stadium exploded with noise, there was a immaculately observed minute’s silence for two legends of the Scottish game, Walter Smith and Bertie Auld.

It wasn’t long before the place was jumping, however.

And the team were backed by some famous faces.

Nicola Sturgeon hailed the result as “absolutely magnificent”.

Rockers Primal Scream also offered their congratulations.

Football pundit and National columnist Michael Stewart added: “The turnaround from Copenhagen to the night is incredible. A complete performance. Steve Clarke has really started to mould [sic] this side into a proper team that is capable of some top drawer stuff. Fantastic to see.”

But of course the stars of the show are the players and coaches.

Che Adams was delighted with his stunning winner.

But it's even better set to Pavarotti...

John Souttar, who has overcome brutal injuries to earn his place in the Scotland squad, reflected on an emotional night after scoring the winner.

And Steve Clarke, a man known for keeping his composure, couldn’t help but crack a smile.

Others put the victory into perspective on what was a historic night for the men’s national team.

Bring on the play-offs!
