FORMER presidential hopeful Mike Bloomberg expressed support for Scotland’s national football team during an appearance at COP26 in Glasgow this afternoon.

Billionaire Bloomberg, former mayor of New York, has been UN special envoy for climate ambition and solutions since February of this year.

As part of the job, Bloomberg has worked closely with the United Nations to “mobilise stronger and more ambitious climate action” in the run-up to the key two-week talks, currently taking place at the SEC.

Speaking at a COP26 event today, Bloomberg told the audience that his time marching in New York City’s Tartan Day made him familiar with the song Flower of Scotland.

“The way things are going it looks as though we may be hearing it at the next World Cup!” he added.

The National:

Scotland are currently placed second in Group F and in contention for a play-off place.

It comes after a run at this summer’s Euros, in which they placed fourth without winning a game.

Scotland’s next match in the World Cup qualifiers will take place on November 12 and see them take on Moldova.
