AWARD-WINNING Scottish actor Brian Cox is among those to appear on the BBC’s flagship political debate show Question Time this Thursday.

The Succession star and Scottish independence campaigner is confirmed to join the panel as the programme is broadcast from Glasgow.

It is the first time since this season of Question Time kicked off five weeks ago that the programme has been broadcast from Scotland.

Cox will not be the only pro-independence figure among the contributors – he will be joined by Scotland’s Finance Secretary Kate Forbes.

Meanwhile the Scottish Conservatives will be represented by MP for Aberdeen and West Kincardine, Andrew Bowie, and Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar will appear on behalf of his party.

Heather McGregor, executive dean of the Edinburgh Business School at Heriot-Watt and former writer behind the FT’s Mrs Moneypenny column, will provide a voice for Scottish business.

Cox has spoken about his support for Scottish independence this week, as he did media interviews marking the release of the third season of Succession on HBO.

In the show Cox plays ruthless media mogul Logan Roy, but in real life he is a socialist. He has also made clear that he is not keen on being seen as a “nationalist”.

The 75-year-old, who is based in New York, told the Radio Times this week: “I now think Scottish independence will happen, and will happen in my lifetime, which I never would have credited.”
