AN investigation has been launched after a man died while working on a jetty at a hotel in Perthshire.

Police were called at around 2.40pm on Wednesday, October 6, following reports of a vehicle going into water in the Killin area.

A 48-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been disclosed.

It is understood he was carrying out work on the pier at the Ardeonaig Hotel on Loch Tay.

A spokesperson for the Health and Safety Executive said it was supporting the police with its investigation.

The Ardeonaig was acquired by local hotelier Ian Hitchins in 2016.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.40pm on Wednesday, 6 October, we were called to a report of vehicle going into the water at a jetty in the Killin area.

“Emergency services attended and a 48-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”

A police spokesperson added that the family were seeking privacy and would not be issuing a statement.
