ANOTHER 34 people have died in Scotland after testing positive for Covid-19, the latest daily figures show.

A further 3055 cases of coronavirus were also recorded in the Scottish Government data, with a positivity rate of 6.9%.

The deaths, recorded amongst people who contracted the virus within the previous 28 days, bring the total to 8721.

There were 988 people in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed Covid-19, a decrease of 10 from the previous day.

Of those 68 were in intensive care, an increase of three.

A total of 4,229,178 people have received their first dose of a Covid vaccination and 3,852,067 have received their second dose.

Those over 70 – and those on the highest risk list – are now receiving booster jags.

People on the highest risk list who are immunosuppressed or immunocompromised are being invited separately for a third dose.
