TENNENT’S light has pledged that 3.5% of every pint sold will go towards supporting emerging Scottish talent.

Scotland’s lowest calorie lager is committing £250,000 over the next three years to the next generation of talent with the launch of its “SpotLight Project”, following a devastating year for arts and culture.

The cash injection from the project aims to “elevate and inspire” people at the beginning of their creative career – whether they are in music, art or fashion.

The “SpotLight Project” will see an initial five Scottish creatives receive direct funding from Tennent’s Light, plus one-to-one mentorship from three leaders on Scotland’s cultural scene – fashion designer Hayley Scanlan, comedian Bash The Entertainer and DJ and producer Nightwave.

Any emerging creators living in Scotland can apply for the project with a short 500-word entry describing how they would spend the funding.

The chosen five will receive £5000 each to go towards their craft, as well as receiving individual mentoring sessions.

Cameron Matthews, Tennent’s senior brand manager, said: “Tennent’s Light is boldly brewed for good times, and by supporting grassroots creators we want to ensure that we keep the good times rolling for many years to come.

“The last 18 months have been incredibly tough for the arts and in particular, upcoming creatives are facing their toughest time yet finding opportunities to kickstart projects, plans and careers.

“Tennent’s has been part of the fabric of culture in Scotland for decades, from T Break to TripTych and T in the Park. We now have an opportunity to support the next generation of talent – financially, through mentorship and then by shining a spotlight on their work.”
