SCOTTISH Finance Secretary Kate Forbes is self-isolating after testing positive for Covid-19.

The MSP for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch spoke to MSPs on Holyrood's Economy and Fair Work Committee remotely as she gave evidence on the economic recovery from the pandemic.

A spokesperson for Forbes confirmed that the Finance Secretary is self-isolating in line with government guidance after she tested positive for the virus.

Forbes told MSPs on the committee: “Can I apologise at the outset for not being able to join you in person.

“I can assure you that only Covid would keep me from the committee’s scrutiny in person and I’m sure the committee is quite relieved that I am not with you in person this morning.”

Forbes tweeted later: “I can confirm I’ve tested positive for Covid-19 and I’m self-isolating at home.

“Fortunately (or unfortunately!) hybrid working allows me to still appear in Parliament virtually.

“The cold-like symptoms aren’t fun but I’m incredibly relieved to be double vaccinated.”

Forbes last appeared at Holyrood almost two weeks ago on September 16.

She previously announced on August 30 that she was self-isolating after a "family member tested positive" for the coronavirus and was quarantining herself due to it being less than two weeks since she received her second dose of the Covid vaccine.
