PROPOSALS to improve the infrastructure of Kincardine are to be shared and discussed with members of the local community, along with business people and other interested groups.

The Coalfields Regeneration Trust (CRT) has issued the invitation to the Imagine Kincardine event at the Coalfields Training and Enterprise Hub and Kincardine Community Centre on October 7.

As well as promoting plans for town centre improvements, CRT is asking other organisations to showcase their work, including plans for external improvements to properties by the local housing association.

Politicians have also been invited to hear more about the plethora of positive changes happening in Kincardine

Nicky Wilson, chair of CRT in Scotland, said: “Great improvements are planned for Kincardine and there are a number of initiatives under way to make the town an even better place to live.

“We’re pleased to be holding this stakeholder information event to share various proposals and give the local community another opportunity to contribute.”

The Scottish Government-funded CRT was formed in 1999 to help mining communities recover from the devastating effects of pit closures.

Earlier this year the “Kincardine, Places for Everyone” project featured in the Scottish Design Awards and was entered for The Pineapples, launched by The Developer in partnership with the Design Council.

The CRT has been working with the design team at HarrisonStevens to progress the project.

Mike Harrison, the company’s co-founder, said: “We have been delighted to see confidence in the community grow. Kincardine is not a town on the edge of Fife or a forgotten place. It is a busy town with strong links to heritage, industry and enterprise and a prime geographical position on the Forth, close to woodland resources.”
