We’ve all joked about how we know somebody who should be on Gogglebox.

Whether it’s family or friends, Channel 4 has announced it is now on the lookout for new talent to take part on the hit TV show.

The show has proven a hit across the UK, but has not featured a Scottish family since 2016. This week Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross questioned Channel 4 bosses over this move, with Channel 4 blaming "production difficulties" and saying they had not yet found a suitable family.

Channel 4 describe the type of person thy are looking for

Executive producer Victoria Ray described the type of person Channel 4 bosses are looking for, explaining they are not seeking typical TV personalities.

She said: "The ideal people are ones who don't know that they're funny. We like people who are charismatic, engaging and don't necessarily see themselves as TV personalities.

"We like to pick people who don't want to be on the telly."

She added: "It's good when they have no filter because then they don't second-guess themselves when they're talking.

"We basically want people that you warm to and you want to see in your living rooms."

How to apply to be on Gogglebox

Channel 4 have never given an exact criteria or application process for the show.

A spokesperson has previously said: “There is no way to apply to be on Gogglebox.”

Executives seem to have their eyes and ears everywhere so don’t be surprised if someone you think should be on the show receive a call!

Channel 4 bosses also select talent from other shows, with a notable example being Steph and Dom - who impressed during an appearance on Channel 4’s Four In A Bed.

It makes sense that there is no official process, as producers want cast members who are normal people with real jobs and have no interest in becoming TV stars.

How much do Gogglebox stars get paid?

According to reports, stars of the show are paid a sum of £1500 each month.

This is per household, so the fee remains the same regardless of how many people are involved in each group.

It is then up to cast members to divide the pay between themselves.

Not bad for sitting down and watching TV!
