TODAY'S National is going to be a bumper edition – with a 24-page special aimed at winning over undecided and soft No voters to supporting Scottish independence, in addition to your regular 40 pages.
The special supplement was produced by Believe In Scotland with the help of The National as part of the Autumn of Indy Action and many thousands have already been distributed to Yes groups across Scotland.
Now, you can get your own inside tomorrow’s paper. We’re printing more copies than normal and putting them into shops so you can buy an extra National and pass it on to an undecided friend.
A whole host of key themes are addressed with statistics and arguments making the case for a Yes vote, such as pensions and why Scotland is perfectly positioned to be independent.
The supplement was designed by The National’s founding editor Richard Walker and includes infographics by Stewart Bremner.
Believe In Scotland founder Gordon MacIntyre-Kemp spoke at length about the project and the Autumn of Indy Action in our Roadshow this week – and it’ll all kick off with a Day of Action tomorrow, which this publication coincides with.
National editor Callum Baird said: “We think this an edition of The National our readers won’t want to miss.
“You’ll be familiar with many of the arguments being made in the supplement, but the way they’re presented here offers a great refresher and guide to making the case for Yes.
“We’re encouraging people to buy an extra copy to hand to a friend who might be undecided still on how they’ll vote in indyref2 – these 24-pages will help win them over.
“Let’s make this Day of Action the start of a great Autumn for the indy movement.”
Topics covered include “Why smaller is best when it comes to successful nations”, “The UK has the worst state pension in the developed world” and “Here’s the truth about borders after a Yes vote”.
In total, 19 key chapters are covered, including a myth-busting special.
MacIntyre-Kemp said: “This is 24 pages of THE key messages from Scotland The Brief with updated stuff on Scotland, Covid, Brexit, etc.
“Have a look at this, have a read through it, understand how accessible the information is – the information is key to converting undecided, soft Nos, pensioners and older voters to our side.
“So if you’ve got someone who falls into one of those brackets, saying ‘my heart says yes, I really like the idea of an independent Scotland, but my head says no’, get them a copy of the newspaper and give it to them person because their head will say yes after they’ve read it.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
