SCOTLAND has recorded the 14 areas with the highest Covid case rates across all UK areas, according to the latest data.
The Covid-19 case rates update has Scotland recording 16 of the 20 highest spots with the data recording the seven days to September 12.
The rates are based on the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in either a lab-reported or rapid lateral flow test, by specimen date.
Data for the most recent four days (September 13-16) has been excluded as it is incomplete and does not reflect the true number of cases.

The data release came as Scotland recorded another 26 Covid deaths in the past 24 hours among people who previously tested positive for the virus. It means the total toll under the daily measure has risen to 8319.

However, the latest case numbers have not been updated due to a “technical issue” which is also affecting the availability of data on tests, ICU admissions and vaccinations.
Public Health Scotland said: “Tomorrow’s update will include figures for today.”
Some 1054 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed Covid-19, a decrease of 25.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
