MICHAEL Gove has been appointed Housing Secretary in Boris Johnson's Cabinet reshuffle.

The former Cabinet Office minister and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster will still hold reponsibility for the Union and elections, Number 10 have said.

A spokesperson for No 10 said: “The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP as Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government.

“He takes on cross-government responsibility for levelling up. He retains ministerial responsibility for the Union and elections.”
