ALL Under One Banner return to marches and rallies for the first time since January of last year on Saturday when the organisation behind the biggest ever independence demonstrations will be in Stirling.

AUOB will set off from the Auld Bridge at 12.30pm and proceed through the city before arriving at Bannockburn, where there will be a rally with speakers and entertainment.

AUOB spokesperson said: “We are excited to once again be taking to the streets and we call on independence supporters of all parties and none to join us, as we cannot leave the fight for independence up to politicians and political parties alone - that we know independence must be won on our streets as well as through our parliament.

“We need a Scottish Government to urgently press ahead and exercise our sovereignty whilst working in cooperation with a strong and vibrant, well organised mass movement.”

Naturally AUOB are disappointed that turnout will be affected by the two pro-independence party conferences taking place this weekend but say that as AUOB does not support any one party, they are proceeding with the march and rally.

The spokesperson added: “Although we expect a smaller attendance we know the message will punch well above its weight and help to re-orientate the broad Yes movement as we emerge from 18 months of relative inactivity and we know the Edinburgh march on September 25 will have a greater attendance “The Stirling march and rally has been officially approved by the local authority and Police Scotland, and will have a peaceful, family-friendly, all-inclusive AUOB atmosphere. “Let’s have maximum attendance for independence now and no rest till Yes.”

And remember, this week also marks the return of The Big Indy Night In, brought to you by the Aberdeen Independence Movement (AIM).

The event will take place tomorrow from 7pm and will see attendees treated to three hours of entertainment. This includes music from Iona Fyfe and speeches from Michael Russell, Anum Qaisar-Javed, Karen Adam, Kirsty Blackman and Maggie Chapman.

The event will also see Theo Forbes chat with Aberdeen South MP Stephen Flynn on politics, life and football.

AIM has been busy, and last week were recording a panel discussion with Neil Gray MSP and Julie Hepburn looking at the findings of the Social Justice and Fairness Commission.

The panel, hosted by AIM co-chair Fatima Joji, gives a great insight into the Commission’s report and how it could be the backbone of the next referendum campaign.
