NICOLA Sturgeon’s book festival event with Booker Prize winning author Douglas Stuart will go ahead tonight despite the First Minister’s current self-isolation.
Sturgeon was informed last night that she had been a close contact of someone who has now tested positive for Covid-19. As she is double vaccinated, she is in self-isolation awaiting the results of a PCR test.
If the result is negative, the First Minister will no longer need to self-isolate. However she will remain in isolation for 10 days if the test is positive.
Tonight Sturgeon is due to take part in an event for the Edinburgh International Book Festival with the writer of acclaimed novel Shuggie Bain.

Organisers have informed that there may be changes to the formatting of the event but insisted it would not be called off altogether.
A festival spokeswoman said: “We’ll know more later this morning and will advise if there are any changes to be made to the format of the event then.
"It will not be cancelled.”
During the event, the pair are set to discuss Stuart’s award-winning Shuggie Bain, the Scot’s debut novel which explored poverty, love and alcoholism in 1980s Glasgow.

Stuart is now based in the US and works as a fashion designer. Tonight’s event details state: “We are delighted to welcome Scotland’s latest Booker winner back to his home country for the first time since winning his award, for what will be his first live, in-person discussion about the book that has won a million readers’ hearts.”
The event, held in The New York Times Theatre in Sculpture Court, is available to view online from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.
