GLASGOW drivers are being warned this morning as it appears that traffic signals within the city are "not functioning".

Glasgow City Council has issued a warning to drivers that some traffic lights have stopped working during rush hour.

They believe that the issue may have been caused by power issues earlier this morning.

An engineer is currently working to restore power to the city although drivers are being warned to "exercise caution" as the issue is expected to impact rush hour traffic.

Glasgow City Council said: "A large number of traffic signals in the Glasgow City Council area are not functioning this morning. It is suspected that this was due to power issues at around 4.51am this morning.

"An engineer is required to visit each site to reset/test, therefore it is expected that a number of traffic signals will remain off through the morning peak.

"Road users should exercise caution at all times."
