DOMINIC Cummings has been sighted on his summer holidays in a Scottish Highland village with his wife.

People in Ullapool said that Boris Johnson's former top adviser in Downing Street has been in the village with his wife who is thought to be attending an art school for a week.

The National understands that staff in The Ceilidh Place bar and restaurant initially refused to serve the former Vote Leave campaign chief while his arrival prompted a political discussion.

However, after the owner's son poured him a drink, Cummings later stayed at The Ceilidh Place for the rest of the evening.

One local told the Press and Journal: “He’s just visiting with his family for a holiday like anyone else would.”

Ullapool, an area that attracts tourists from across the globe for its stunning scenery, has benefitted from seasonal staff from the EU.

Its local school, swimming pool, harbour and industrial estate have all benefitted from EU funding along with local roads and bridges.

The Prime Minister's former chief aide hit the headlines with a trip last summer when the UK was under coronavirus lockdown restrictions.

Cummings drove himself and his family hundreds of miles from their London home to his parents' estate in Durham after he and his wife tested positive for Covid-19.

After isolating with his wife in a cottage on the estate, he drove his family 30 miles to Barnard Castle in what he later claimed was an attempt to test his eyesight for the drive back to London.

After leaving his role in Downing Street late last year, Cummings has been openly critical of the Tory government and revealed information about Johnson's ability as Prime Minister through his own channels and an interview with the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg.

In the interview, he spoke about Johnson's resistance to lockdown measures during the pandemic, his doubts about Brexit and his own plan to potentially oust the PM soon after he was elected.
