A JOINT military exercise between the UK and US is set to bring low-flying aircraft to parts of Scotland when it gets underway next week.
The Typhoon Warrior 21 exercise will see military jets, helicopters and transport planes taking part on various days over the course of two weeks.
It is thought that the activity will bring low-flying aircraft to the east of Scotland with residents in recent years complaining about loud helicopters heading towards the Firth of Forth.
Previously, the Leuchars Army base in Fife has featured in military exercises of this kind, but other air bases could also be taking part.
The dates highlighted by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for the exercise are August 17, 19, 24 and 26.
The MoD says it intends to hold activities for Typhoon Warrior 21 between 10am and 12pm on the above days but Civil Aviation Authority documents show they could take place from as early as 8.30am and up to 2.15pm.

Under MoD rules, fixed-wing aircraft, like jets or large transport planes, routinely fly as low as 250 feet but have occasionally gone down as far as 100 feet.
The US Air Force is taking part in the exercise alongside the RAF and civilian contractor Draken Aviation.
The public can expect a “large force exercise involving up to 60 military aircraft operating in mixed formations including fast jets, intelligence, surveillance & reconnaissance aircraft, air to air refuelling, and air mobility assets (both fixed wing and rotary wing)," according to the Civil Aviation Authority.
They added: "Exercise traffic will conduct air-to-air combat radar profiles, supersonic flight, radar and communications jamming, and air combat serials. Airspace control orders will be issued separately by the sponsor to all control agencies.”

The Scottish areas listed as being affected by the exercise are: Aberdeenshire, Angus, Argyll & Bute, Clackmannanshire, Dumfries & Galloway, East Ayrshire, East Dunbartonshire, East Lothian, East Renfrewshire, Edinburgh, Falkirk, Fife, Glasgow, Highland, Inverclyde, Isle of Arran, Midlothian, Moray, North Ayrshire, North Lanarkshire, Outer Hebrides, Perth & Kinross, Renfrewshire, Scottish Borders, South Ayrshire, South Lanarkshire, Stirling, Tyne & Wear, West Dunbartonshire and West Lothian.
Parts of northern England are also likely to be affected.
