Come to Dine with Me (C4, 5pm)

THE show returns for a new series this week, as five contestants from in and around Basingstoke have a go at hosting dinner parties. First up is marketing manager and maths enthusiast Nicole. She is hoping to wow her guests with a culinary nod to her roots and is throwing in a disco for good measure. Her foodie journey takes us from Lebanon back to the UK via the Caribbean. But will it impress her guests?

Olympics 2020: Today at the Games (BBC1, 7.30pm)

CLARE Balding and Alex Scott introduce the headlines on a busy day in Tokyo. In sailing’s 49er and 49er FX events, Dylan Fletcher and Stuart Bithell were looking to beat New Zealand’s reigning Olympic champions Blair Tuke and Peter Burling, while Charlotte Dobson and Saskia Tidey were hoping to go one better than their world silver medal in 2020. At the velodrome, Britain’s cyclists began their defence of the men’s and women’s team pursuit titles, and on the athletics track, Jess Judd and Eilish McColgan had good prospects in the 5000m.

How to Save a Grand in 24 Hours (C4, 8pm)

ANNA Richardson and her team meet new parents Mabel and Saul, who are struggling to juggle working from home and looking after their new baby. They often find themselves too tired to cook and are racking up a £420 monthly takeaway bill. Chef Gary Usher shows Mabel and Saul how to recreate the taste of their favourite takeaways using a cut of budget-busting pork belly. Meanwhile, DIY and design expert Eve Humphreys sprinkles her magic to transform their bedroom into an adult sleeping oasis, as well as sharing top hacks to sort a squeaky bed.

Long Lost Family (STV, 9pm)

TONIGHT’S search features a number of emotional twists and turns as the experts unveil one missing relative after another. When fifty-three-year-old Kate Brown was just five days old, her birth mother left. She suffered from a severe form of epilepsy and was unable to look after her daughter, so Kate was fostered by the Barter family. But there was someone that Kate felt a connection with – her foster brother, John. Despite years of searching for John, Kate was unable to find out what happened to him.
