SCOTLAND’S Finance Secretary Kate Forbes and her partner Ali MacLennan have tied the knot at a church service in Dingwall.

Forbes announced her engagement earlier this year on the same day as launching pandemic support for the wedding industry.

MacLennan proposed to the MSP while the pair were out on a walk in the snowy Highlands.

Forbes said she and her fiancée were “very grateful for the incredible response” to their news after a difficult year.

At the ceremony, friends and family attended while restrictions on numbers saw the service livestreamed online to allow well-wishers to enjoy the event.

Forbes said: “We are delighted to get married, with some friends and family. Many watched online instead of joining us in person, because of Covid-19 restrictions.

“After a difficult 18 months for everybody, our wedding day has been full of joy. We hope other couples enjoy the same happy day, even with all the worries and frustrating of planning a wedding around restrictions.”

Photos taken by Chris Hoskins showed the happy couple at the Global Energy Stadium, a short walk away from the church where they were wed.

Following the wedding, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon congratulated the pair.
