NOW Scotland will hold a members’ motions session tomorrow night, proving that it is a member-led, pro-independence organisation.

The organisation was set up to be run by members for members, which is exactly what the motions meeting will show from 7pm this Thursday on Zoom.

Now Scotland said to its members: “Check your email inbox now for your latest updates. Details on this week’s members meeting as well as upcoming events activity.”

The two motions to be discussed are: Routes To Independence For Scotland, proposed by Geoff Bush, John Brown and Brian Allan, and Independence Movement Summit: Campaigning At COP26, proposed by Alan Bell, Alison Watters, Cath Maguire, Ellen Joelle Dalzell, and Lita Hallyburton.

An emergency motion on support for the forthcoming

All Under One Banner demonstration at Faslane will also be put forward, proposed by Alan Bell. The motion is presented as an emergency motion due to the time constraints of the voting process and the demo being in late August.

Co-conveners Gillian Mair and Alison Watters recently appeared on the Common Weal podcast. Mair said: “I think broadly that the organisation has been accepted and has bedded in.

“The movement is quite cynical and tired just now, and the worst thing that an organisation could do would be to come in and be top heavy. This is not what Now Scotland’s about.”
