A SCOTTISH city has made it onto a list of 20 best destinations in the world for beer lovers.

New research from money.co.uk reveals the best cities around the world for beer lovers and Edinburgh ranks in 16th place.

The Scottish capital has an overall score of 3.93 out of 10, with the fourth most bars and clubs at 4.45 per 10,000. It beats London by 23 places.

London comes 39th out 40 on the list, with an overall score of 2.19 out of 10, London is home to the fourth most expensive pint at the average cost of £5.00.

Dublin in Ireland takes eighth place with an overall score of 4.36 out of 10 with 5.66 pubs and bars per 100,000. However, the city is notorious for an expensive pint, and has the fifth most expensive pint on the list at £4.70.

Asheville in the US tops the list, followed by Prague in the Czech republic, Krakow in Poland, Fort Collins and Cincinnati in the US and Buenos Aires in Argentina.

No cities in the UK were classed as the cheapest place for a pint while the Argentinian capital, Buenos Aires, topped the list. 

The average cost of a pint of beer is just £1.17. While it may be better known for Malbec wine, a craft beer scene is starting to form in the city, especially in the Palermo area.
