BORIS Johnson has been accused of having “no common sense” after being photographed leaving Wembley Stadium in a chauffeur-driven car while wearing no mask.

The Mirror published the exclusive photograph showing a maskless Prime Minister – despite his wife Carrie, driver and security detail all covering their faces.

From July 19 people will no longer be required by law to wear a face covering in taxis and private hire cars in England. At the moment, failing to cover up could prompt a fine of £200.

However it is understood there is a loophole for those travelling in chauffeur-driven ministerial cars.

The UK Government does urge people sharing cars to protect themselves and others by donning face masks.

The Tory leader said just hours before the picture was taken that it is “common sense for people in confined spaces to wear a face mask, out of respect and courtesy to others”.

Justin Madders, Labour’s shadow health minister, told the newspaper: “The Prime Minister claims people should use their common sense but he has just demonstrated that he has none.

“Whether it is boasting about shaking hands with Covid patients or saying he would rather let the bodies pile high, Boris Johnson has never taken this pandemic seriously.

“And in ditching all protections in one go, he's dangerously pandering to the very worst elements on his back benches and putting his political interests above public health.”

Johnson had been at Wembley for England’s Euros semi-final match against Denmark, which they won 2-1.

Gareth Southgate’s side will now take on Italy in Sunday’s final.
