MORE than 2000 people will take to court this summer for Netball Scotland events all over the country.

Scottish hotel group Crieff Hydro Family of Hotels is an official sponsor of Scotland’s Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) team Strathclyde Sirens for 2021/22. To kickstart the partnership they are helping to launch a sporting summer, supporting a series of camps and outdoor recreational leagues.

The nine summer camps will be held across Emirates Arena Glasgow, Aberdeen Sports Village and at St George’s School for Girls in Edinburgh this month. Aimed at girls and boys aged nine to 16, youngsters can challenge themselves with ball skills and fun fitness drills, as well as competing in friendly matches – all led by Sirens players.

In addition to the junior summer camps, Sirens summer social leagues for junior, senior and bounce back teams will take place across Aberdeen, Perth, Edinburgh and Glasgow in July and August.

CEO of Sirens and Netball Scotland, Claire Nelson, said: “The support from the Sirens Tribe throughout the Vitality Netball Superleague this year has been phenomenal and we are delighted to see our sport returning for women, girls and boys to participate in across local communities after being on hold due to the various lockdowns.

“Sport and wellbeing go hand in hand and with many of our young people missing out on the opportunity to take part in events such as these, which promotes both positive mental health and physical exercise, we can’t wait to be back out delivering more camps and events over the summer holidays.

Fiona Leckie, board member at Crieff Hydro Family of Hotels (pictured above ), said: “The leagues and camps will give over 2000 women much needed escape from the day to day and a return to camaraderie.”
