1 NUMBER one on the hit list this week is a real-life show at the Project Ability Gallery in Glasgow. T his event focuses on the work of three expert draughtsmen, all adult men with learning disabilities, and is part of Glasgow International 2021.

Leslie Thompson’s subjects include buildings, people and animals, and he is influenced by his love of cartoon strips. Nils McDiarmid is driven by his interest in hip-hop and RnB subcultures. Robin Wise lived in Newton Dee: a unique rural “village” designed for adults with learning disabilities, offering meaningful work and opportunities to its residents. His drawings radiate warmth and demonstrate a familiarity with the environments and subjects. The show is on daily 11-5 until July 4, Project Ability Gallery 103 Trongate, Glasgow

2 THE National Museum of Scotland is back, with exhibitions of all sorts including: Inspiring Walter Scott; Scotland’s seas; Viking hoard and much more. The cafe is open again and of course the museum has a host of facilities for autistic children and the gift shop provides an end of visit treat. The museum is in Chambers Street in Edinburgh and is open daily 10am-4:30pm and is free to enter.

3 WHILST you are on the museum trail and in Edinburgh, swing past the National Museum of Flight with an exciting exhibit, Flying into the Future. The museum is packed full of all things aeronautical for your budding pilot and makes a fantastic day out with the wee people. 5 EDINBURGH Zoo is going all Night at the Museum. If your kids loved the movie then why not take them to the real deal and take a wander through the zoo and enjoy the long summer evenings. With a host of local food and drink kiosks available, you can relax to the sound of an acoustic set by the main lawn, follow a new digital trail or simply soak up the atmosphere and enjoy your visit at your own pace.
