THURSDAY’S paper had several articles and letters expressing the frustration of independence supporters at the inaction of the SNP government.

Articles on inaction on housing and statistics, not pursuing a referendum while elections and referendums can be held here and throughout the world, paint a weary picture.

Maybe the SNP hierarchy should take the place of the country’s football team at the Euros, after all, they’ve perfected how to kick the ball, albeit into the long grass.

The time for platitudes has run its course and continued inaction is no longer tolerable.

If the current cabal of the SNP can’t see this, they should step aside before support goes elsewhere to those who prefer not to sit on their hands on independence.

Up to now support for the SNP has waxed but it can’t belong before it starts to wane. There are other homes for independence supporters to go to now.
