The National:

AHEAD of GB News launching, some were concerned about the channel’s impact on political discourse. Was this the beginning of the Fox Newsification of the UK? Who would be given a platform as the channel rushed to hire controversial figures from the media?

The launch of the channel may have led people with those concerns to put their fears aside. In fact the biggest news stories from GB News this week have revolved around their frequent audio problems, out-of-sync interviews and regular trolling from viewers.

Then yesterday the afternoon presenters created a beautifully Alan Partridge-esque scene by telling people trolling them to “grow up”.

“Some people think it’s really funny to send in texts and messages on the basis that if we read them out we’ve been 'had',” said former BBC newsreader Simon McCoy.

“You’re still doing it and I’m watching them and it doesn’t help anybody," he claimed.

Last night the channel found itself redfaced once again as comedian Adam Pacitti bared his bum while submitting a question to failed London mayoral candidate Laurence Fox.

During Dan Wootton’s night-time programme, Pacitti put forward a question about people being too offended by jokes these days – while subtly angling his camera to show the mirror behind him, revealing his behind.

Fox and Wootton appeared to be oblivious to the situation.

“Hello. I am a great fan of your work and also a great fan of comedy. I am a man that loves to laugh. I am of the belief that either one can joke about everything or nothing at all because somebody will always be offended by a joke,” the comedian said. “What are your thoughts on that?”

Although Pacitti’s bottom was in clear view, the pair went on to answer the question without any hint they knew what was going on.

After the comedian won laughs for his prank, he declared it had been a “solid night’s work”.
