2 REFUGEES are welcome here in Scotland and maybe its high time we learned a little bit more of some of the stories of refugees in Scotland – from the post-war camp for Polish refugees in Prestwick to present-day experiences of life for refugees in communities around Scotland.Happily, PhD researcher Katherine Mackinnon will be discussing key moments, events, and places which help us to understand the history of refugees in modern Scotland.
She will also discuss her work in partnership with Maryhill Integration Network in Glasgow to explain where our refugees are fleeing from and to share some special stories of refugees that have successfully made their home in Scotland. 4 ON December 31, 2020, the United Kingdom left the European Union. “Brexit” was a contentious and divisive issue and has been deeply unpopular in Scotland. Professor Ian Wooton from Strathclyde University will be giving a talk that will give an understanding of global trading institutions. He will examine the immediate aftermath of Brexit for the UK and discuss how Brexit has influenced the debate on Scottish independence. Thursday at 1pm. 7 THIS summer, Art Night are curating a series of billboards by the Guerilla Girls to be situated across the country as part of their new commission titled The Male Graze.
The work will manifest as a website, a live gig and the billboards. This weekend’s display is in conjunction with Glasgow Women’s Library and will see a billboard come to the east end of Glasgow.
