A SCOTTISH Asda worker has been contacted by Mads Art Gallery in Milan to display her artwork in an exhibition at the end of the month.

Abigail Lyons works part-time on click and collect at Asda Bishopbriggs in East Dunbartonshire alongside studying fine art at City of Glasgow College.

The 19-year-old said that she was delighted when the gallery spotted her Instagram post showcasing her final college artwork.

Lyons said: “I couldn’t believe it at first when one of the curators got in touch.

“It really was such a nice surprise and I just felt so happy afterwards.

“The artwork is an identity piece and has four different images made up as one.

“It has four faces with the top halves of each removed.

“I’ve only displayed my art at college before so to have a gallery from Milan – one of the art capitals of the world – wanting to show one of my pieces is so exciting.

“I’ve always loved art since I was young. My main Christmas present was always a new paint set.”

Lyons continued: “I was on a shift at work when I first found out the news and I couldn’t wait to tell my mum Carolyn.

“My colleagues here are so happy for me and proud.”

Asda Bishopbriggs service manager Emma Watson said: “We are all very chuffed for Abigail. It’s a fantastic achievement for her at such a young age as well.

“Abigail is a lovely, bubbly colleague who is a valued member of our team – we’re all very happy for her.”
