INDEPENDENCE Live looks set to achieve its fundraising target thanks to the support of the Yes movement.
They told The National last night: “Great news, our crowdfunder is now over 75% done. Our target is £8000 and we are currently sitting at £6297. Hopefully we can reach our target in the next two weeks with further support from the Yes movement.
“As soon as we reach our target we can concentrate on what we do best which is to broadcast live content created by other pro-indy groups and increasingly our own content.”
Indy Live are nothing if not ambitious, for their plan is to take the online fight for independence to the BBC and the other mainstream Scottish media that would rather just ignore the Yes cause, and they have a plan to do so over the summer.
They ask: “Did you know YouTube is the world’s second biggest search engine behind Google?
“And did you know Independence Live is the biggest independence channel on YouTube?
“We have a plan in place to increase our followers to over 10,000 by the end of the year, improve the Search Engine Optimisation of our content, so more people find pro-indy videos, and drastically increase our digital output.”
Key to increasing those follower figures is content produced by Indy Live themselves and The National can reveal big developments in their output.
They said: “We are currently working on a new show called ‘SCOTONOMICS’ a bi-monthly YouTube show starting in June 2021. The show is hosted by William Thomson who has been leading our content creation and Kairin van Sweeden, who is on the SNP Policy Development Committee.
“Each episode will be peppered by interviews and appearances from well known economists and commentators and will discuss economics in a UK and Scottish context.
“We are also looking to host monthly virtual conferences that will help the movement focus on “the Scotland they want to create”, once we are independent.
“Our first summer conference is on June 19 - registration is open now - and is titled “In Defence of Scotland - The future of the armed services in an independent Scotland”. It will hopefully give the Yes movement a flavour of the topics we will cover in 2021 and beyond.
“We have big plans for the rest of the year and support from the moment is vital.
“Our Crowdfunder can be found at www.indylive.radio/indylive-media-spring-crowdfunder-2021.
“SCOTONOMICS episode one is about Economic Sovereignty and will be available from June 9 at www.youtu.be/AF3mRrwQqb0.
“Register for 'In Defence of Scotland' at www.hopin.com/events/in-defence-of-scotland.”
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
