A 91-year-old woman has been scammed hundreds of pounds after being targeted by bogus workmen in Parkhead. 

The victim had been inside her home on Edinburgh Road, near to Todd Street before she answered the door to a man in a hi-visibility wasitcoast. 

He claimed he had been carrying out work in the close and required access to her flat. 

The callous thief made entry into her flat while another man distracted her and stole a three-figure sum of cash.

Both of the culprits ran off. 

The pensioner was not injured during the incident, however she has been left badly upset. 

Detectives are scanning through CCTV footage from the surrounding area and reviewing it in their efforts to trace the thieves. 

The first man is described as being whiteand in his fifties.

At the time of the robbery, he was wearing dark coloured clothing and a Hi-Viz waistcoat.

The second man is black, in his twenties and was wearing all black clothing. 

Detective Constable Joe Gear said: “I would ask members of the public to be on their guard, clearly these two men are trying to dupe householders into believing they are legitimate workmen.

"Their aim is to con money out of vulnerable people in their own homes. 

"If anyone saw these two men or noticed them hanging around the area, I would urge them to contact us. Any small piece of information could be vital in helping us trace these vile men.”
