A MAN is in hospital with serious injuries after being attacked in Rutherglen. 

Emergency services were prompted to Farie Street at 4.25pm yesterday afternoon following reports of a disturbance. 

The 49-year-old victim was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

Inquiries into the incident remain ongoing. 

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At 4.25pm on Thursday, May 13, we received a report that a 49-year-old man had been seriously assaulted near to Farie Street.

“He was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“Enquiries to establish the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.”
