A NEW announcement today could be extremely good news for Scotland and its environment. It will also likely be hailed as a big win for the UK Government.

This is about the Carbon Capture (CC) plant announced at Peterhead today, which is to be funded with UK Government money.

Secondly, the Peterhead plant will be run by the Norwegian state-owned company Equinor - who've become experts in carbon capture over the last 20 years while Britain dithered.

Maybe that has something to do with Norwegian control over its energy strategy as an independent country and a state-owned company in control.

And finally, there's small print in today's announcement that suggests the plan isn't home and dry yet...
