SUNSHINE on Leith star Kevin Guthrie has been dropped by the BBC as the voice of popular show Inside Central Station.

Guthrie, 33, was convicted of sexually assaulting an actress, 29, after a night out following a trial in Glasgow’s Sheriff Court earlier this month.

He featured as the narrator on the first two series of the BBC Scotland programme which documents life behind the scenes at Glasgow Central Station.

A BBC Scotland spokesperson said: “Production on series three of Inside Central Station is currently paused until the station gets a bit busier.

“We’ve not decided on a narrator for the series but it won’t be Kevin Guthrie.”

Inside Central Station is one of the channel’s most successful shows attracting a viewership of 700,000.

Series three was set for broadcast this spring with six new episodes documenting the staff’s battle after the difficulties of the past year.

The attack occurred between September 30 and October 1, 2017 at the home of actor Scott Reid – who played Methadone Mick in the BBC’s Still Game.

Guthrie insisted he only “helped” the woman, who was incapacitated, but his DNA was found inside her underwear.

She was due to meet Guthrie and Reid at a bar on the night of the attack but Reid received a text from a taxi driver to collect her as she appeared ill.

Both men helped the woman into the flat in Glasgow’s Kelvindale and put her on a bed.

Reid called NHS 24 leaving Guthrie in the room “to make sure she was ok”.

The woman recalled Scott not being in the room and the bed covers “being moved down my body”.

She explained: “I remember my top being lifted up and my bra being held down.”

The woman was groped by Guthrie.

He kissed her mouth and performed a sex act on her.

He then carried out a further two sexual acts and kissed her mouth.

Guthrie would stop when Reid was in the room.

She said: “I was unsure about what was happening, I could not believe it was happening.”

When asked by Prosecutor Harry Findlay why she didn’t say anything.

The woman responded: “I couldn’t ... I found it difficult to communicate in any way.

“I think I was frozen as well.”

Guthrie denied the sexual assault charge during a four-day trial and wept “why?” as the verdict was read out.

Sheriff Tom Hughes said: “You took advantage of this woman while she was in a vulnerable position.

“The jury say you were found in a position of trust while you were supposed to be looking after her.

“Your position stands in direct contrast to the one of your friend Scott Reid whose actions were highly commendable.

“He rushed to her aid when something happened outside his home and he cared for her.

“He was constantly trying to get help through NHS 24 and did absolutely anything to help her.

“This must carry a custodial sentence for this serious matter you have been found guilty of.”

Guthrie's due for sentencing next month and has been placed on the sex offenders’ register.
