THE Radical Independence Campaign have written to the Yes DIY page asking us to let Yes supporters know that they are very much alive and well and preparing for a future second independence referendum.

Dave Coull of the campaign wrote to tell us that 24 people took part in the Radical Independence Campaign (RIC) Zoom meeting last Thursday night.

He wrote: “As far as actual decisions taken at the meeting: we are aiming to hold a Radical Independence Conference as soon as possible after we know the results of the May 6th election.

“Due to continuing concerns about Covid, this conference will be by Zoom.”

“This conference will be different from previous RIC conferences. There will be no big name speakers.

“It will be a practical decision-making event for activists. The intention is to use that event as a way of launching new radical independence campaigning in the new, post-election situation.

“The event isn’t completely ‘public’, in the sense that, obviously, we don’t want supporters, or fellow-travellers, of the Tory party at that conference.

“But the intention is to make it open for anybody who isn’t actually hostile towards independence of a more radical nature. There should be a public rallying call for action issued from that Conference.”

A working group for organising the conference is being convened by Jack Ferguson who is developing an RIC group in Fife.
