THERE have been no new deaths in Scotland among people who recently contracted Covid-19, the latest government data shows.

A total of 211 new positive cases have been reported, accounting for 1.6% of the 15,097 tests carried out.

There were no deaths among people who had tested positive in the previous 28 days, meaning the total number of deaths since the beginning of the outbreak under this measurement stands at 7642.

Registration offices are generally closed at weekends, meaning the figure could be an underestimate. 

The total number of deaths among confirmed patients this week stands at 12, a reduction of 4 on last week. 

The total number of deaths from last week where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate stands at 34.

There have been 10,031 deaths in Scotland where Covid was mentioned but a positive test was not necessarily recorded.

The number of people in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed Covid-19 stood at 109 and 18 of these patients were in intensive care.

It was noted in the latest figures that seven Covid-19 patients had been in intensive care for longer than 28 days.

The total number of Scots who have tested positive for Covid-19 since the start of the outbreak now stands at 223,261.

A total of 2,744,231 people have now received the first dose of a vaccine and 738,420 have received a second dose.
