The Yes DIY page is happy to pass on this plea from Cliff Purvis of Veterans for Independence 2.0. “The good folk over at Caledon Radio are doing their annual crowdfunding and so far have reached a third of what is required to keep them ticking over. Now, like the vast majority of our independently minded media, donations from the public are absolutely crucial for them to continue and contribute by pushing out the views from across the Yes movement.
“There is no such thing as a donation that is too small as quite literally every penny helps. We desperately need our independent media platforms if we are to get our message out, and not just out here in Scotland, but to our friends and supporters in the international community. It is important for us all to realise that we here in Scotland are not unique in desiring self-determination, for we are not the first country that has sought to throw off the shackles of the Oxbridge sow.
“So fine folk of a rebellious nature, please donate and let’s not surrender the airwaves to Unionism. Scotland’s future is bright, independence is right.”

Meanwhile, Yes Southside will be hosting a free Zoom event on How To Use The List Vote - A Guide For Yes Supporters on Monday, April 19 at 7pm. Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
