THERE have been no new deaths of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 reported in Scotland.
In the latest daily coronavirus figures released by the Scottish Government, there were 250 new positive cases of the virus reported. This is a fall from 281 cases reported the day before.
With 15,916 tests carried out which reported results, that gives a test positivity rate of 1.8%, a slight rise from the day before but still well below the 5% threshold that the World Health Organisation states indicate the pandemic is under control.
It is noted that Register Offices are now generally closed at weekends and the number of deaths reported can therefore be lower than the actual number.
In the most recent figures, 168 people were in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed Covid-19 and of these people, 20 were in intensive care with 10 of these patients being there for more than 28 days.
Due to NHS Lanarkshire submission issues, data from the day before from that health board was used in the reporting of hospital figures.
There was no change in the number of people in hospital from the day before but it has been reported that around 15,224 people who tested positive for Covid-19 have been discharged from hospital since March 5, 2020.
Scotland had 2331 positive cases between March 31 and April 6, which was 42.7 cases per 100,000 population and a test positivity rate of 2%.
This is considerably lower than last week when Scotland had 3400 positive cases, which was 63 cases per 100,000 population and a test positivity rate of 2.5%.
In Scotland, a total of 2,657,578 people have now received the first dose of the Covid vaccination and 568,875 have received their second dose.
