The National:

IT wouldn't be an election without Unionists misleading voters and the LibDems' latest leaflet has more than delivered on that front.

A leaflet sent out to people in East Dunbartonshire references the 2019 General Election where Jo Swinson, who was the LibDem leader at the time, lost her seat to the SNP's Amy Callaghan.

It contains a bar chart which says the SNP got 19,672 votes and the LibDems got 19,523. Beside the graph, the leaflet says: "Only 149 votes in it here in East Dunbartonshire and the Conservatives and Labour are miles behind."

It shows the Tories had 7455 votes and Labour had 4839.

But there is just one problem.

While the LibDems are closely behind the SNP in  East Dunbartonshire, next month's election is another matter as the boundaries are different for the Scottish Parliament.

In the last Holyrood vote in 2016, the SNP secured 16,158 votes, Labour got 7726, 6029 people voted for the Tories and LibDems were behind all the Unionist parties at 2925 votes.

It's not the first time the LibDems have had a leaflet blunder during an election. Just a few weeks ago the party sent out a "newspaper" to constituents that contained "political propaganda" according to one resident

The leaflet, titled West Edinburgh News Gazette, was sent out to voters in the west of Edinburgh and contained stories about incumbent Edinburgh Western MSP Alex Cole-Hamilton as well as bold claims about other parties.

And in the 2019 General Election voters in Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey were sent leaflets meant for Skye and Lochaber.
