FIRST Minister Nicola Sturgeon said yesterday that the SNP is a party that offers serious government for serious times.

Sturgeon said the election campaign had made it clear only the SNP was offering the experienced leadership the people of Scotland needed.

And she said it has never been more important to give people in Scotland a choice over their future because Boris Johnson was taking the country in the wrong direction.

The SNP leader said: “It is only by using both votes for the SNP in this election that people in Scotland can be sure to get the serious government that is essential in these most serious of times.

“This campaign has demonstrated as never before that the SNP is the only party of government with the experienced leadership the people of Scotland deserve.

“For the remainder of this campaign we will remain laser-focused on setting out a programme for government to rebuild the economy, invest in our NHS and improve people’s lives.

“That focus on building a better Scotland means that when the Covid crisis is over, people have the right to choose between independence or Westminster governments led by the likes of Boris Johnson, which are taking Scotland in the wrong direction.

“No party that supports or accepts Boris Johnson’s job-destroying hard Brexit can claim to be serious about economic recovery from the pandemic.

“So in this election for serious and experienced leadership, a programme to kick-start the recovery and, once the Covid crisis is over, a choice over Scotland’s future, make it both votes SNP on May 6.”
