SCOTLAND has recorded 343 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the latest government figures show.
The figures also show that no further deaths have been recorded among people who had previously tested positive for Covid-19. However, registry offices are usually closed on weekends which may artificially deflate this number.
Today's figures mean that the official death toll under this measure – of people who first tested positive for the virus within the previous 28 days – remains on 7614.

A total of 14,164 new tests for Covid-19 reported results in the past day, with 2.7% of these coming back positive.
In terms of the vaccination programme, 2,553,837 people across Scotland have now received the first dose of the jag. The government figures say that 451,057 have received their second dose.
Over the Easter weekend (from April 2 till April 5), the government's daily updates will only provide the "headline statistics" reported above.
There will be no updates to the remaining statistics, which will be updated on Tuesday 6 April.
Why are you making commenting on The National only available to subscribers?
We know there are thousands of National readers who want to debate, argue and go back and forth in the comments section of our stories. We’ve got the most informed readers in Scotland, asking each other the big questions about the future of our country.
Unfortunately, though, these important debates are being spoiled by a vocal minority of trolls who aren’t really interested in the issues, try to derail the conversations, register under fake names, and post vile abuse.
So that’s why we’ve decided to make the ability to comment only available to our paying subscribers. That way, all the trolls who post abuse on our website will have to pay if they want to join the debate – and risk a permanent ban from the account that they subscribe with.
The conversation will go back to what it should be about – people who care passionately about the issues, but disagree constructively on what we should do about them. Let’s get that debate started!
Callum Baird, Editor of The National
