NATIONAL columnist Lesley Riddoch and The Spectator’s Scotland editor Alex Massie debated Scottish independence in an online event for Intelligence Squared last week.

By the end 40% supported independence, 57% backed No and just 3% still hadn’t made their minds up.

After the discussion, Riddoch commented: “Not a win. But a big shift. Where there's life there's hope."

During the event, which is now available as a podcast, the pair debated the SNP’s record in government, Brexit, the economy and the right timing for a new referendum.
