The National:

LABOUR MP Barry Gardiner prompted the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee chair into a furious rage this afternoon as his questions went on for too long.

In a scene stunningly reminiscent of the Handforth Parish Council meeting that descended into chaos, Tory MP Neil Parish exploded at Gardiner.

As the MPs were putting questions on seafood and meat exports to the Environment Secretary, Gardiner was interrupted.

“Barry, for goodness sake!” Parish exclaimed. “We are an hour into this! Your questions are too long, Barry!”

The Brent North MP replied: “Sorry chair … I think it’s a fair question, and given that the Secretary of State actually produced this at the last minute before this committee –“

An enraged Parish interjected: “Let him answer the question, Barry for goodness sake! Please! It’s going on too long, your question!”
