NICOLA Sturgeon will today update parliament on the latest lockdown easing to be brought in across Scotland.

The First Minister is poised to reveal further information about the Scottish Government’s road map out of lockdown during her weekly update in Holyrood this afternoon.

Yesterday, Sturgeon said she would "seek to set out some details of what changes we hope to be able to make in early April – hopefully around April 5 – and then what further easing we might expect to see in late April, and then mid-May, and in much less detail beyond that".

The Scottish Tories and representatives of industries including hospitality have called for indicative dates to be given in order to allow businesses to prepare for reopening.

However, Sturgeon has resisted the pressure, saying that the Government "cannot provide certainty on everything at this stage, particularly the further into the future we try to look, but we will try to provide as much clarity now as possible".

Jillian Evans, the head of health intelligence at NHS Grampian, today told the BBC that the numbers around the pandemic were looking "very positive" and should allow restrictions to be eased.

She said any easing would inevitably lead to small increases in certain areas, but said that overall the situation with Covid in Scotland seems stable.

Where can I watch the update?

Sturgeon's update to the Scottish parliament will be broadcast live on its website.

She is expected to start speaking at around 2.15pm.

You will also be able to watch the update on BBC Scotland.

We will also have all the important details on our site and liveblog as soon as possible after the First Minister informs MSPs.

What do we already know?

According to the current plan, the Scottish Government is set to lift the "stay at home" restriction on April 5.

Then, on April 26, it is hoped the country will return to a levels system – with most of Scotland expected to go directly into Level 3.

It is at this time that areas like hospitality, hairdressers and gyms would be allowed to re-open.
