I MUST disagree with Kirsty Strickland’s view that the SNP have made a serious error in their approach to the pending elections (Here’s where SNP need a change of tack ahead of election, March 8). On the contrary it seems to me that this has been deliberate policy on the part of the current hierarchy.

A narrow/minority win leaves an excuse for inaction on their part. The parroted “we haven’t enough votes/seats” will be paraded, and things will carry on as at present. “Keep pushing and maybe next time” will be the call to the faithful (mugs).

The result will be another Section 30 request turned down as expected, and the members/support strung along once more.

There’s been little, if any, progress since 2014 and every event since used as an excuse for inaction. I fully expect more hand-sitting by the present lot after May, but hope they prove me wrong. I won’t hold my breath in expectation.

For me this is the “last chance saloon” as far as the SNP is concerned.
