ANOTHER person has died in Scotland after contracting Covid-19, John Swinney has announced.

A further 501 cases were also confirmed, with a positivity rate of 5%.

The death, recorded among those who tested positive in the previous 28 days, bring the total under that measurement to 7422. Figures on Monday tend to be artificially low because registration offices are closed over weekends.

Some 654 people are in hospital with recently confirmed Covid-19, 26 more than 24 hours previously.

Of those, 59 are in intensive care, a decrease of two.

Of the new cases, 138 cases are in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 99 are in Lanarkshire and 67 in Lothian.

The other cases are spread among eight other mainland health boards.

Swinney, speaking at the Scottish Government’s coronavirus briefing, also announced a further 14,909 people have received their first vaccine dose.

Another 2802 also received their second dose in the previous 24 hours.

A total of 1,774,659 people have now had their first dose, while 118,732 have had their second dose.
