LESLEY Riddoch has published her second weekly video column, this time focusing on the UK Government’s plan to slash international aid funding to Yemen.

In the clip, the journalist explain how the UK’s spending on aid to Yemen is falling while its spending on arms sales is going up.

UK arms sales to Saudi Arabia resumed in July last year after an official review said airstrikes which broke humanitarian law were “isolated incidents”.

Meanwhile in the US, the Joe Biden administration has suspended arms sales to the country.

Yesterday it was confirmed that the UK will cut its aid to war-torn Yemen by more than half, with foreign aid being slashed by billions across the board.

The UN has launched an urgent appeal for more aid funding in Yemen to avoid a looming famine, which would increase the tragic impact of the civil war.

Watch the clip below to see Lesley explore what this all means and puts the cuts into perspective.
